Hej! New team member!
A warm welcome Jasmin Dirawi, to the Swedish Business Council, tell us a bit about yourself.
Born and raised in Sundsvall, a city in northern Sweden, I’ve always been driven by a curiosity about the world. This passion led me to pursue opportunities abroad from a young age. During my undergraduate studies in Political Science, I completed an internship at the Swedish Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Since then, I have studied in the US and China and earned a Master’s Degree in Migration and Development Studies from SOAS, University of London.
Fate brought me back to Abu Dhabi, where I spent seven years at the Swedish Embassy, most recently as a Promotion and Protocol Officer. One of my highlights was working on the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2020, which provided me with unforgettable experiences and connections with people from around the globe.
I am now thrilled to be the Assistant Executive Director at the Swedish Business Council (SBC) in Dubai. The UAE is a vibrant melting pot of cultures, offering encounters with individuals from all corners of the world—something I truly cherish. On a personal note, I met my husband Bader in Abu Dhabi, and we share our home with our delightful Himalayan cat, Zaatar.
At SBC, while our main operations are in Dubai, I am eager to expand our presence in Abu Dhabi. The capital offers immense opportunities, and I am excited to leverage my background and network to make a significant impact. I look forward to connecting with new, ambitious individuals and companies and furthering SBC's role in this dynamic city.
