Hej! New team member!

Lisa Ringnér-Näckter, Assistant Executive Director, Swedish Business Council

A warm welcome, to the Swedish Business Council, tell us a bit about yourself.
My family and I arrived in Dubai August 2022 after spending 9 years in Hong Kong. My background is actually in healthcare. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Sweden and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from University of Hong Kong. Towards the end of my nursing studies, my husband got a posting in Mumbai and I managed to do the final part of my internship at a local hospital. Arriving in Mumbai, I realised how little I knew about this fascinating place. And who would have known that my super basic Hindi would be of use in the future, in Dubai! After an interesting, yet intense year in India we moved to London where I worked mainly in HIV research. Eager to go back to Asia, my husband managed to secure a new job in Hong Kong, so we both resigned while I was on maternity leave and moved east once again. After completing my Master degree I got a job at a medium sized NGO, where I worked for 6 years and I managed the healthcare and crisis intervention team and later focused on partnerships.

How do you like Dubai and your new role at SBC?
We are fairly new to Dubai and I’m still counting in months (20 months, in the toddler stage) and have a lot to explore. Though Dubai has really surprised me in a positive way, it’s much greener and more relaxed than I expected. We live in ‘The Lakes’ and have my two older children at Dubai International Academy and the youngest one at Raffles in the Lakes. It’s such a beautiful and friendly community and I love the multicultural environment that it has, just like Dubai.

I’m very excited to become a part of the wonderful SBC team. Having been with the business council for less than two weeks I have been fortunate enough to meet so many members already thanks to the successful SBC´s 30th birthday event.
