Mohit has been with the company for 17 years, but recently took over the role as General Manager based in Dubai. Apart from being a big Manchester United football fan he is also working with his team on the general company goal - Better Living.
Hej SBC Member!
Who is Mohit Bhatia?
I was born in New Delhi, but education and work exposed me to many different parts of my diverse country, India. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and completed my Postgraduate in Business Administration. At age 26, I moved to Singapore, home for my family and me for the last 16 years. My family includes my wife Shivani and my children Sarah and Shaurya. We moved to Dubai recently and looking forward to this new leg of our journey. I am an avid football fan. I enjoy playing and following football, particularly Manchester United, which I have been supporting for over 25 years. I also enjoy hiking and have been lucky enough that my travels have taken me to some extremely picturesque locations for hiking, including New Zealand, South Africa, and Switzerland, amongst others.
You recently joined the Dubai office, can you explain a bit more about your role at Electrolux Group and what is your focus at the moment?
Electrolux Group has been present in the Middle East and Africa markets for many years now. In my new role as General Manager for Electrolux Middle East & North Central Africa, my focus is on building a sustainable, profitable growth engine for the Electrolux Group in this wonderfully diverse and exciting part of the world, developing a strong team which will represent the future leaders for Electrolux and contributing to the Electrolux Group Purpose of Shape Living for the Better for our Consumers and our Planet.
You have worked at Electrolux Group for an impressive 17 years! What made you want to join the Swedish company Electrolux at the beginning of your career, and what made you stay for these many years?
These 17 years have gone by in a flash. I joined Electrolux Group in India in 2006. I had a few friends who were already working at Electrolux Group at the time and had shared their experience of working in a Diverse and Inclusive organization, which attracted me to Electrolux Group. Within a year of joining, I got the opportunity to move to our Regional Head Quarters in Singapore, where over 16 years, I had the privilege of leading our Taste, Care and Wellbeing Experience Areas at different points as well as our Ownership Solutions business for our APAC & MEA markets which has helped me to gain a deep understanding of our consumers and markets. The combination of working for an organization whose values align very closely with my personal values and the opportunity to manage many challenging roles over the years has made my 17 years a fantastic experience.
This year, it is The Year of Sustainability in the UAE - What are some of the proud Sustainable initiatives you have driven during these years?
Across the world, Electrolux Group strives for Better Living by inspiring and empowering people to make choices that will help them live more sustainably. Electrolux Group has had a very strong focus on sustainability for a long time. Our purpose, Shape living for the better, guides us in our everyday routines. In my career, I have been lucky to be part of many new product development initiatives which have been the benchmark for sustainability, including the best energy performance refrigerators in Australia, The Ultra Eco low energy usage washing machine in Indonesia. The most recent Make It Last experience campaign for our Washers delivers best-in-class performance to improve the life of your favorite clothes and refrigerators, which keeps your food fresher for longer.
In the UAE, we have partnered with the Dubai Can initiative to create awareness around the problem of using single-use plastic bottles and with partners like Thrift for Good and Sharaf DG for our Break the Pattern campaign to build awareness about recycling old clothes.
At Electrolux Group, we quickly adopt any change that works for the sake of the environment and for shaping the living of human beings in the best way possible. Our future is determined by the way we all live our lives.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting his/her career?
We all believe that there is a perfect, well-thought-through career plan for each of us, but we need to be agile and open-minded that along the way, opportunities will not be part of the plan but can open doors which can lead us to bigger and better things.
What is your dream in life?
As mentioned above, I have supported Manchester United for over 25 years. In this period, due to family and work commitments and being located halfway across the world, I have only managed to support the team in person a handful of times. I dream that in the years ahead, I will be able to watch the team play in person more often, along with my kids.
Thank you Mohit for sharing your story! We wish you all the best with the coming years!
