Swedish Julbord 2023

The Swedish Business Council welcomed 260 guests to the Loulou’a Ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai on the 24th November 2023.

The Swedish Julbord commenced with a magical fairytale welcoming the three SBC hostesses of the evening, Christina, Johanna and Lotta to the stage while listening to the Disney classical by Cliff Edwards, ´When you wish upon a star´ and the fairytale unfolded, carrying messages of hope and light to all the guests.

During the evening we listened to Cecilia Carlswärd, Chairman of the Swedish Business Council who informed us about SBCs achievements during the year.

The Ambassador - Designate of Sweden to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mr Fredrik Floren honoured us with her presence and held a speech about the Embassy´s work in the UAE during the year and reflecting on the situation around the world.

During the evening the guests were served a 4-course set menu with the typical Swedish dishes, such as pickled herring, gravad lax, Jansson´s Temptation with Grebbesta Anchovies brought over from Sweden, Christmas Ham and delicious Christmas treats including the traditional Ris à la Malta.

While the guests were enjoying their dinner, there was a special magical performance by Layla van der Veen who transported us all into the enchanting world of “The Nutcracker” with her beautiful ballet performance.

The evening continued with the great band ThePLAY with Lisette Uhlmann as lead singer together with Josefin Persson. Niklas Wikström on base, Graeme Chart on drums, Max Makhusudov on Guitar and Toby Nelms on piano made it a great 6-piece band entertaining the guests till the end.

The dancing didn’t finish there, on stage came DJ Akmaral who entertained the guests for another couple of hours. And there was also Ferass Percussionist getting everyone into the dance mood.
